Hope and a Future

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future — Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV).

This artwork was inspired by Jeremiah 29:11 and adapted from a public domain photographic image of a Father and son holding hands.  Much like many of our earthly fathers, our heavenly Father, wants to protect us from harm and give us prosperity in all areas of our lives.  Good fathers will always give hope and a future for their children providing the children listen to their father’s protective wisdom and guidance.  Some find this hard to believe.  They feel that the Father God in heaven is ready to strike them down at any moment. The problem is they never actually think that it may be their rebellious nature to their Father’s wishes that causes many of their problems in their lives.  Many times people give their kids rules for their own protection and yet they’ll rebel and do it anyway and then blame their parents for it when the hurt comes from the consequences of breaking those rules.  This holds true even as big kids (adults) when dealing with God the Father.  The system is set up that you and I choose daily what to obey and disobey but have a tendency to blame the Father when we get hurt from our own choice of disobedience. This is known as reaping what is sown. So ultimately God is being faithful to his Word.  If we believe in his guidance for our own protection and then follow them well their truly is hope and a future of security and prosperity for us all.
